Well....I absoultley love scrapping challenges and sketches. So...I was very inspired by the March Color Challange over on the Crate paper blog. The colors are so fresh and pretty...and I rarely scrap "pretty" things or colors.

This is a pic of my sister in laws.

We finally all live in the same city...

We all have little boys...

We share a lot in common and are finally getting the chance to spend some time together...

For the challenge, I used pieces from the Random Collection and Emma's Shoppe Collection. They are so versatile and cute...love playing with these lines and this brand.

I spinkled a bit of pinky/peachy paint on the white cardstock (one of my favorite trends lately) and then layered with the wonderful papers and embellies.

As I see the LO here, it looks way better and brighter in person...just can't get a very good picture of my LO's lately - does anyone have any suggestions on how to get great lighting on your LO's?

I have been loving the look of all the loosely wrapped thread behind pieces...so I tried it here! I found the perfect color in my stash of threads that worked great with the color palette of this challenge.

I love the look of the green and the pinks together. They are so fresh and bright - makes me want spring here sooner than later!!!

Birthday Card

I am finally posting this card that I made in December for a friends' 40th birthday.

I used the Pink Paislee Vintage Vogue line.

I cut the frame using my cricut and then sewed around the edges to give it a bit of texture.

I loved how these colors fell together. It is a beautiful line and can be used in many different ways.

I have lots left over and plan to make a few more cards for upcoming events.

Random Things

I wanted to post a few random things I have made over the last little bit....

First up - a Basic Grey Origins quilt

I purchased this kit from a wonderful little quilting store in Spruce Grove Alberta a while back...I have taken almost 8 months to get it to this point!!! I am currently hand sewing those brown squares onto the centres of each block. Next is the binding but that will be another post I'm sure!

Next up is an 8 x8 canvas that I created.

I was inspired by all the altered art that is out there...so many beautiful artists that create things other than scrapbooks. I used some various different paints, alcohol inks and die cuts. I also used some tissue paper as the background to give it a bit more texture....

And lastly...a card that I made as a sample for my LSS. I absolutely love sewing on my projects so again, I had to sew a little boarder around this one as well as on the flags. I love the look of all the layers and pieces...you can never have too much!

Off to finish drinking my coffee, blogging, and icing my sore knee...

Playing Around

I was playing around with some left overs/scraps and this is what I came up with. I love using up my scraps to make random cards...it feels good to use up all those little goodies that breaks my heart to throw away!

I used some October Afternoon paper and some Pink Paislee and Maya Road embellies.

Now I really need to get to my Project life...it's been awaiting since January...

Something Spring Like....

I was crafting again...big surprise right??!!

I needed some bright, beautiful colors to work with and be inspired by...so I chose the Basic Grey Picadilly line. It feels like a warm quilt with lovely patterns and colors!

I came up with these six cards and.....it will soon be a class at my LSS. I will keep you all updated with a date for when it will be scheduled.

I've used some Tim Holtz dies as they are so versatile! I also inked the seam binding ribbon, scrunched it up and then dried it with my heat tool - such a great look!

I created my own little banners by using simple rounded toothpicks! I just cut off the top, laced them through the banner and voila - beautiful embellies for cards and layouts!

The woodgrain embossing folder that I used was again from Tim Holtz...I just lightly rubbed my ink pad over it to highlight the embossed features.

This one was quite simple...just some 3D adhesive, butterflies cut from my Slice and some pretty little rhinestones.

I created another banner with a toothpick, used the left over seam binding that I stained and some cuts from my Slice.

They are all the regular 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 so they will fit in a regular size envelope. I used A LOT of 3D adhesive, but they can also be flatter by using regular glue/adhesive...this would make them cheaper to mail.

It's a Sketchy Challenge

Have you been over to the Canadian Scrapbooker site lately? They have a monthly sketch! And since I love sketches, I thought I would join in the fun! The great thing is that you have to use at least one Canadian manufacture on your LO!

Here is the sketch for February by Jill Sarginson...

And here is my take on it....

This is a LO using the great October Afternoon line, Sidewalks. It was just so cute I had to get it! The heart is an old one, made by Heidi Swapp. It's clear acrylic so I inked it with some alcohol ink and then glued some patterned paper behind it. It kind of gives it a camouflage look!

The teal sparkly transparency behind the picture is from Fancy Pants (can't remember the exact line).

The word "Joy" is made by Riff Raff, a Canadian Manufacture. I have had this for so long in my stash...mostly because I "collect" stuff....thats for another post!

Seems to be very nice out today...need to go for a long walk, build some snow forts and make some muffins!!

Project Life...

Project Life...

Here is the title page for my Project Life 2012 book that I "plan" on doing...

Plan is the key word here...

I haven't even started creating it...

I bought the book...

And the page protectors in various sizes and shapes...

Printed my photos since January...

Created this title page...

but still - have nothing to show for it!

I just need a few hours...

weeks...

maybe hours....

to get a few weeks together...

but who really has all that time eh? ;)

Soon...very soon....I predict it...

So - here it is. I used a variety of stuff and just piled it all together. I got my inspiration from watching Janna Werner do a little video of a LO that she put together for Creative Scrappers Blog.

I loved the way Janna put all the layers and pieces that didn't really go together, together! And they look fabulous on her LO!

Thank you Janna for the great inspiration!

So it's going to be -40 celsius here in Manitoba tonight...

Plug in your cars...

Wear your toques...

Don't forget your boots...

A New Card Class....

Yup...I finally came up with a new Card Class. I used Bo Bunny patterned paper and some of their embelishments. I also used Tim Holtz dies with adhesive cork by Karen Foster - love this stuff.

The class will be on February 16th at The Scrapbook Cottage in Winnipeg. Each card is either 6x6 or 5x7 and you get 5 in total. Sign up at Scrapbookers Cottage if you are interested - limited space available!!!

The created the white crate paper flower by punching out many circles from crate ribbon from the dollar store. I put them all together with a brad. I inked the edges of the doily slightly to make it blend in a bit better with the background paper.

On the blue card I embossed the small envelope and then lightly inked the raised parts to give it some more texture. This pocket is perfect for a gift card to give to that special person!

I used a Stampin' Up butterfly die on this red card. I love that there are two shapes on it!!! I used an EK success punch for the boarder and a Martha Stewarts punch for the small red butterflies.

Again some more of Tim's amazing dies! I used the bird cage die for a skirt for the dress form die, covering it in paper to match the background of the card. I added a few layers of ribbon to give the "lady" a beautiful dress!

You will have to excuse this picture...terrible lighting....The flower is made from the same black ribbon as in the other cards and of course the wonderful clock die by Tim Holtz!

There will also be kits available in you can't make it to the class on February 16th. Just let the ladies at the store know that you just want a kit!!

Grandma...we love you...and so I scrapped you!

I used the October Afternoon Farmhouse line. It is so versatile and beautiful! I love that all the pieces aren't overly matchy matchy - my favorite way to scrap! I have had this picture sitting in my pile of scrappy pictures for the last two years....finally found some paper and embellies to go with it! Thanks Grandma - you make our lives full!

I love the way people have been using the twine throughout their layouts and cards...it falls so nicely and adds a little bit of a pop on the page. I also used Gum Drop Glimmer Mist on the background with a chicken wire stencil, a scallop punch on a few pieces as well along the right top edge of the LO. This LO makes me very happy....

MME Sketch Challenge

Have you been over to the My Minds Eye blog lately? They have their first challenge up of the year! The theme was "new" so I came up with this card - New Beginnings! I thought this would be great for someone that is starting out a wonderful new journey or challenge! I used the Kraft Funday line that is soooo great! Probably the best kraft colored paper I've ever seen.

Here is my take on the LO challenge. Again, the theme was "new". I flipped the sketch around and used a picture of my little guy with his feet hanging out of the crib when he was sleeping!!! It was the cutest thing I had seen him do while sleeping! I was able to move him without him even waking up! Again I used the same line, Kraft Funday. Instead of using circles, I used the negative where I cut circles out of a pp. I love that you can see the background through the cut outs. I alcohol inked the plastic letters for "new"...not sure where they came from as I have had these for years!

Oh where does the time go....

I have been away for so long - so sorry my friends and followers!

We have been extremely busy - but now I can say I have some time to create, scrap, sew and blog....I recently just had reconstructive ACL surgery, however it didn't go as planned...I will be headed back in four more weeks to get it completely fixed. So, as for now, I am nursing a knee that is not completely fixed, blogging and drinking coffee - not to bad if I don't say so myself!

I have a few quilts to finish up (and start!) some scrapping projects and of course some R&R for the leg.

I am also learning how to do some things on my computer, making it all set to my liking.

Here is a little pic of my boys playing lego yesterday....makes me happy!

MME Sketch Challenge

Head on over to the My Minds Eye blog to see their sketch challenges. I completed this card for the card sketch. I used their old Holly Jolly Christmas Line...I love their stuff so when it came out a few Christmas's ago...I bought a ton of it! I used my Slice for the snowflakes and some Glitter paper for the background.

Today is Christmas decorating day! We live for this day each year! Now Shea is at least old enough to understand and help out so it should be interesting! We also watch all our Christmas movies...The Grinch, Rudolph and National Lampoons Christmas Vacation!

Crate Paper Color Challange

Head on over to the Crate Paper Blog to take a look at this months' color challenge. The colors are soooooo pretty and I love the inspiration line that Tara put together. Here is a card I made for the challenge...

I used the Crate Paper Random Collection as the colors matched perfectly. I sewed around the edge of my background and then layered a few pieces here and there. I absolutley love twine so of course orange had to be included. I made the orange flower with crepe paper and a Martha Stewart punch. The only thing not Crate Paper on this card is the Thank you sticker and the twine - these came from My Minds Eye. Have I told you how much I love Crate Paper...???!!!!!

Off to make an apple crisp for supper tonight...yummy!

Happy belated Halloween!!

Shea was all decked out in his Dragon costume - a few times - this Halloween. We went to Boo at the Zoo, then he had a party at day care, then we went trick or treating. He got the hang of trick or treating at the second house, realizing "hey - they give me stuff if I knock and say trick or treat!!". He was a happy camper that night! Here is our little Dragon with his new cousin - pea pod. Shea is still learning to be "gentle" so getting these pictures were a little tricky!!

On to scrapping....here is a layout I created using the Authentique Halloween line. I love all the little bits that come with each line. They are perfect for layouts and of course cards. I used a mask in the background, some burlap sprayed with Glimmer Mist behind the photos, grungeboard painted and crackled and Tim Holtz dies and embossing folders. I love how simple it turned out yet enough "fun stuff" to add dimension and texture.

Off to feed the little one "shredy" - what he calls them!

I'm so sad to say that this is my last Creative Scrappers Layout that I will be completing as a design member. I have explored the "sketch world" and fell in love with it. I have grown as a scrapper and blogger and my creativity has expanded in places I didn't know could. I have met some wonderful and amazing artists along this fabulous run. A big thanks to Kristine over at Creative Scrappers for choosing me as a design member and providing such great inspiration with all of her wonderful sketches! I will, however, still be visiting the site on a weekly basis to see all the great sketches and inspiration from all those talented ladies! Thank you!

So.....after a few tears....here is my final layout for sketch #180.

On another note, here is a tag I completed using the new Tim Holtz fall colors. I absolutely love his distress inks and had to play, play, play!

And last but not least, a simple card I made with the new Lost and Found2 line from My Minds Eye....I love all the paper and embellies that go with these releases!

Mail....don't you just love mail when there are some wonderful things about to arrive? The anticipation about when it will be on your doorstep - checking the mail box - questioning your husband.... "did you get the mail today"? Well - it came! I got home from work and there was a box on my door step! It was from Pink Paislee! I ripped it open to find a wonderful surprise.....

The entire line of Vintage Vogue!!! This stuff is amazing! It looks a bit girly, but I know that I will be able to make a ton of cards and a few layouts out of this stuff! It makes me want to drool.....

On another note, I made this card for the Crate Paper October Color challenge...however I was one day too late submitting it. So here it is in the mean time....we had to use khaki, teal and mustard yellow in a layout or card. You can add black, white or kraft if you want....this was my take....

I love sewing on my projects. You can make a ton of designs and it adds so much more dimension to the card or layout! Have a great day everyone!

Well I suppose I should read the instructions....the theme was "fall"....and I made a baby card and family layout! To make up for it I made another card around the "fall" theme so that I could still play along. Here is my card based on the sketch over at MME blog....

And here is the layout that I made using the sketch....however due to my super excitement for the challenge, I made it about our little guy instead!

And here is the baby card that I had made for the challenge....again, not fall related so I can't submit it....

Beautiful My Minds Eye!

I absolutely love the MME new papers that came out just recently....wait....I have always loved their paper and am still finding some of their very first releases in my never ending stash of scrapping goodies! So when I saw they were having a card challenge over at their site, I decided to join in! Here is my take on the wonderful sketch....

I used some Lost and Found and an older Bohemian "baby" tag that I came across! I bought this tag a long, long time ago as they don't make this release anymore...but it matched pretty good with the Lost and Found release. Now....off to create a layout for their layout sketch challenge....

Im so sorry that this is soooooo late! My computer has been on the fritz for the last little bit....sooooo I guess my Mac is on its way in the near future!!!

Here is my take on the Creative Scrappers Sketch #176. I used a mask and some Distress Ink by Tim Holtz to create the background on a Prima paper froma while back. I cut out some of the shapes with my slice!

And since its so beautiful outside I am hopefully going to spend some time outside with my little guy...soaking up the sun and whats left of it!!!

Beautiful Fall Days!

Don't you just love these beautiful fall days? The trees are so beautiful, and the sun here as been gleaming each day for the past week or so! The temp is supposed to be 27 tomorrow!!! The perfect mixture for taking pics of my little guy along the walking paths and river near our house!!!

In the mean time, here are some cards I made over the weekend for World Card Making Day. I used the Pink Paislee mistable paper for the background. I then used some Tim Holtz Distress ink and the new Tim Holtz die cut for the small leaves and branches - I sooooooo love this die cut!!! I used some grunge board for the larger leaves and then ran them through a texture fade for some dimension.

Here I used a chicken wire mask with some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. From there I just added some embellies....and of course I inked EVERYTHING!!!

On this next card I used some Tim Holtz packaging that I had saved and cut out the two butterflies. I then used Eggplant Alcohol Ink to spruce up the butterflies and then covered various ares of the wings with Diamond Glaze and clear beads. I also added some alcohol ink over the beads once they were dry to give them a darker look.

I have another post to put up but my computer is acting up and my photo is not on my laptop....let me work on it for a bit and I will post my layout soon!!!

Remember....take advantage of this beautiful weather, fresh air and gorgeous colors...it won't last forever!!

Hello everyone....sorry my post is so late....

I had a little misshap at work on Friday and have not been very mobile since.....as a result I have done no scrapping and have not even touched the computer!!! However, Creative Scrappers has again, posted another wonderful sketch. Here is my take on it using some older October Afternoon product that I absolutely adore. This is of my little guy at about 6 months....love the chubby arms and legs!!!

Here it is....my take on Creative Scrappers Sketch #172. It was super fun to work with this sketch....and can you believe it - I made it without my trimmer! Yes - we are still in the process of unpacking all of our stuff....so I scrapped out of boxes! That was a challenge of its own! I used My Minds Eye paper and stickers to create this layout.

So...here again is another great sketch from Creative Scrappers. I used a photo of my son at around 10 months, playing cars with his Grandpa R. My little guy is standing on one side of a coffee table and Grandmpa R is on the other side....it was such a precious moment and I am very thankfull to have caught it on camera!

I wanted to explain the small row of puzzle pieces and watch parts...if you look closely, I have glued them all together using crackle glue. I got this idea from my wonderful friend Jan. She came up with this idea and used it on an amazing layout of her son, Reese. I loved it so much I "lifted" the idea to use on this layout. Thanks Jan for you wonderful idea and inspiration....please visit Jan here and scroll through her blog - she is an amazing artist and scrapbooker - be sure to leave her some comments too!!!

As for our moving journey...we moved in on the 17th...still boxes, boxes, and more boxes are scattered across the entire house! I know it will come together soon....now.......where will my scrap space be is the only question I have left for my husband!!!

CS Sketch #168 - So gorgeous!

This was such a great sketch I just had to use my new papers from Authentique. Can you believe that I did this in the middle of a move - two provinces from Alberta? Yeah....nothing will stop me from scrapping away! Creative Scrappers Sketch #168 was super inspiring - it appears a bit simple - but that is when one gets to let their mind wonder, create and expand. I love sketches like that! Here is my take on it...(sorry for the terrible pictures...not using my own camera or computer...)

And...does anyone have any suggestions as to how to keep the pinwheel paper flower together? I have been using the maga 3D Zots, glue, and anything I can get my hands on, but nothing seems to stick or keep it together. I have some that are opening up and ruining layouts....any help would be greatly appreciated.

And....I'd like to appoligize to those that have been reading my blog. I have not been updating very often as I am currently in the middle of a major move in my life. I quit my job as a Police Officer in Edmonton (8 years), sold my house, uprooted my little guy, husband and dogs and am moving to Winnipeg to be closer to family. Since we had our little guy, it's been very hard to be away from family support. I will blog more about all of this soon - but again, thanks to all those friends and followers that check this place out....I love reading your comments that you leave!

CS Sketch #166

We are here on a very beautiful sunny Sunday morning...showcasing the wonderful CS Sketch #166! I loved this sketch, however I changed the circles to a bracket frames that I found in my stash of stuff! I used a mixture of 7 Gypsies paper and Tim Holtz embellies. I embossed the picture with a Tim Holtz Texture Fade, then sanded it a bit to bring out the embossing features...however it was too white for the layout so I used some Tim Holtz Distress Stain to stain the white of the picture where it embossed. Here is the sketch...

CS Sketch #164!

Things have been so busy around here....and as of July 29th I will be homeless! We sold our house and the possession date is July 30th...however we haven't found one to live in just yet! So...the packing has begun, the tears are ever flowing and the house searching is never ending. I would like to mention though - my scrapping stuff is the last thing that is going to get packed!!!

Here is the CS Sketch #164 - I love the small photos used at the top of the sketch - makes you think outside the box a bit. I used some old Sassafrass paper that I adore and some pictures from a wedding we went to last summer!

I used the October Afternoons' Rocket Age line. It is super cute and totally made for those little wonderful boys in our lives! I used some pieces from the rest of my stash that matches and plays up on the colors. This is of Shea playing in the mud this April...he loves being outside and exploring the outdoors! A quick post....

I just put Shea to bed...going to finish drinking my coffee that I have had to re-heat four times...then going to work on my new fabulous quilt that I started. I am using Basic Grey's Origin line to make the quilt. My local quilting store carries the Basic Grey line of fabric - yup - super pumped about it! I am hopefull that she will get in the Curio line as it is my absolute favorite! I will post some pics once it is done!

In the mean time, here are some layouts that I have created that have not posted (at least I think so!).

Here is a sweet little picture of my sweet little guy. I loved the Websters paper with the baby whimsical effect...perfect for all the embellies that matched. This is a layout I did of our family at a wedding in Wpg last summer. I love the vintage cars that were all lined up at the location....had to have a major photo shoot as a result! I used the wonderful My Minds Eye Lost and Found line.

This last one is the April kit at the Urban Scrapbook. We used Glitz paper and Glitz stamps, all which came in the kit. This layout is pretty simple for me, but I love everything about it! I guess not every page needs to be full with "stuff"!

CS Sketch #158....what a whirlwind!

Wow....it has been crazy around here....

I went back to work full time. This makes it so hard for me to keep up with all the housework, dogs, scrapping, sewing, cleaning, yard work...husband and child! We are currently trying to sell our house so that has been a bit stressful as well. I have so many interests and things I want to do...sometimes work just gets in the way (I'm sure it's like this for many, many people out there - especially scrappers!).

Here is Sketch #158 from Creative Scrappers. This was super cute and I loved how you could use three photos in it. I chose to rotate the sketch to the left, using only one photo at the top and a lot of embellies at the bottom. I used the new Cosmo Cricket line, Five and Dime (I think it's called this)...super cute line and chipboard pieces!

I see now that I post it I`m missing a letter ~b~ in the title....should say ~sweet baby Shea~....so funny! Sorry everyone!

Also - if any of you haven`t seen the new Canadian Scrapbookers magazine out this month....you need to buy it quick before they all go. My good friend and major inspiration to scrapbooking, Jan Hobbins created the layout on the front cover! Yup - she is famous - again! The actual layout is at the Urban Scrapbook right now on display beside the magazines...come on down and take and look and pick up your magazine today - it is absolutely gorgeous! Congrats Jan - beautiful work!

Wow! Nicole Nowosad created a beautiful sketch for the Creative Scrappers Sketch #154! I used the gorgeous Crate Paper Portriat Line as well as the Tim Holtz clock die cut that just came out!

And here is my take...

This LO is of my inlaws on their wedding day in October 1970. They celebrated 30years last year! I cut the clocks out using the die cut and grunge board, spraying them with gum drop glimmer mist from Tattered Angels. The branch with birds is FX accents (I think) that I sprayed with Maya Mist in Cherry. Hope you like!

Did everyone enjoy the great layouts by the designers for the blog hop? The takes on the sketches were outstanding!

Just a quick post...

Just wanted to show you my LO for the May kit over at the Urban Scrapbook! It is with the new Crate Paper Toy Box line - so super duper cute! You will also get a set of the chipboard elements, patterned paper, a piece of zipper, some wood pieces and a Tim Holtz Distress Ink dauber...it is amazing!

If you look closely - I inked the edges of the chipboard numbered frame under the bottom picture, as well as the patterned paper that is under the top of the zipper. I also used it as a dauber - and just splatted it all over my page. It is amazing stuff - you will surley enjoy it as you can use it on anything! The kits will be out May 1st - dont miss out!

Creative Scrappers Sketch #152

I finally got to Michaels today to return some things that I had purchased and then changed my mind. They, of course, like always, have a coupon today...so I went searching for a few items that I definetly didn't need, but hey - I had a coupon to use up - can't let it go to waste!!! I found some beautiful resin flowers in pastel colors and some great transparent flowers and birds. I get to the til and found that the flowers were only 2.99 and the package of flowers and birds were only 1.49!!! I couldn't believe it...didn't even get to use my coupon as everything was already on sale! I love a good deal - especially when I'm not looking for one!!! On to a layout...here it is....the beautiful sketch #152 over at Creative Scrappers. Again - a very beautiful and versitile sketch. I seem to be using sketches more and more these days...they just give me such inspiration! I used the new Pink Paisly line - so amazing - but missed out on most of the embellies as they were all sold out before I got to the store :( The best thing about sketches is that I can use any product I want to...mixing and matching is my favorite thing to do! Here is the sketch.... And here is my take on it....this is of Shea playing in the puddles and mud last week...so much fun and a perfect picture taking day!

Extra Kits

Hello everyone...long time no blog....sorry - super hectic here in the Rogers' household.

I was recently at a baby sale where I was selling some of my flowered headbands as well as some scrapbooking kits I designed and put together. I have a few of the kits left over and thought that some of you may be interested. The Teresa Collins LO kits are $18.00 and come with everything you see here and more. There are also instructions and a large picture of the LO that is included.

The mini album is $35.00 and comes with the book, all the embellishments, ribbon and die cuts. I also have instructions and a pictures of each page in the kit. Creative Scrappers Sketch #150

I have been in a real crafting mojo lately - have sooooo much going on in my life right now. We moved all my scrapping stuff to the basement as we just got new carpet everywhere in our house...and since then everything is unorganized and unreachable. I need some great storage ideas - anyone have any great pictures or ideas to share??? The scrapping spot that I am in right now is only temporary as we are hopefully selling our house. As a result, much of my stuff is in boxes and tucked neatly away out of sight - and I DON'T SCRAP WELL this way!!! I need to see everything to be inspired! I did, however, manager to come up with this layout for the Creative Scrappers Sketch #150. It is a cute little pic of my favorite niece - love the spring colors - a nice change from all he snow we have here in Edmonton!

Creative Scrappers Sketch #148

This was probably one of my favorites so far! It made me think outside the box a bit as I don't normally scrap with four photos...I didn't end up using the four photos - but made it work for me! That is what I love about sketches, you can twist and turn them the do what you want for you style! Here is my take on Sketch #148...

Also - did I tell you that I met Tim Holtz and Margie from The Girls Paperie? OMG! I was stunned to see them in person!!! They were both here for the Memories Wholesale even held here in Edmonton. They came to the Urban Scrapbook where I teach at! You should have seen me - I couldn't stop grinning and laughing like a little school girl!!! I got Tim to sign my Vagabond and Compendium of Curiosities book. I got to spend some time with Margie - she is the sweetest lady! She is beautiful inside and out - and her blog makes me laugh everyday! Head on over to Tim's blog here and Margie's blog here to get some amazing inspiration! And thanks to the Urban Scrapbook for having them to the store - I know you made many women happy in so many ways!!!

Crate Paper March Color Challenge

Head on over to the Crate Paper blog...they are having a Color Challenge using grey, kraft and yellow. You can make a layout, card or project using these colors. Here is a card I made for the challenge. I used their Restoration Line - as it is my favorite for sure! I added some Maya Road mini kraft colored tickets, twine and a white doily. The butterfly is die cut from a Stampin Up butterfly die using Sassafras Paper that I found in my stash! Head on over there and take a look - some great idea on their blog!

March LO for the Urban Scrapbook

Another month gone by...oh where does the time go??!! We were given the March kits at the Urban Scrapbook which was filled with all the new goodies from Little Yellow Bicycle! The theme this month was punches - we had to use punches throughout our layouts. For all the locals and on line shoppers out there interested in the kit - you get a 40% off coupon for a punch with the purchase of the kit!! On my layout I used a scallop circle punch to make the flower, using the negative as a stencil with my glimmer mist. I also used my Zutter to create the punch along the left side of the old book paper. Fiskers makes this great bracket boarder punch that I love - I used it along some of the pattern paper to the right of the photo...it's all scrunched up so it may be difficult to see in the photo....and of course the beautiful model is my little niece Calleigh Rose D. Hope you enjoy - today seems to be bright and sunny outside...perfect for a walk to the mailboxes with the dogs and little one!

Creative Scrappers Sketch #146

After much contemplation, figuring and playing...I finally got my layout submitted for the Creative Scrappers Sketch #146. The sketch this week was awesome...I totally love that you can twist, turn and play with each sketch to make it your own. Here is the amazing sketch...

And here is my take on it....

I used the Maya Mist and a template for the background scalloped circles...and then just picked through my stash of stuff to create all the other elements. I have sewed the butterflies onto the layout, layering two on top of each other...looks much better up close though. I also sewed around the word "face" above the photos to give it more emphasis. I loved playing with this sketch - take a look here to see the rest of the designers amazing layouts!

Some fun stuff

Oh how my days have been filled - Shea has been keeping me super busy...he is the busiest boy...I have such a hard keeping up with him. I called the local gymnastics location and found out that I missed the winter registration date :( I will have to wait until April to sign him up. I figured a gymnastics class will keep him busy and allow him to burn off some of that "oh so truly boy" energy.

I did, however, manage to get some scrapping and sewing done. My good friend and I are purchasing a table at a local craft/mommy's swap coming up in April. As we are paying for a "new" table (not used items), everything needs to be - obviously - new or handmade. I have made these super cute - at least I think so - headbands with fabric flowers on them. Some are super fun with bright colors and some are little more sophisticated. I hope people like them - but even if they don't - I had a blast making them and reconnecting with my sewing machine again. Here are a few peeks at what will be shown at the sale in April....

I also made a couple of scrapbooking kits to sell at the sale too. As it is a mommy's sale, I figured a cute little boy mini album and girly layout page would brighten someones day. I love the new MME product that just came out and I couldn't resist the old Teresa Collins Freestyle line - I don't have a little girl but I absolutely loved this line!

I only have a few of the kits available so if anyone is interested - let me know asap and I will hold one for you!

Happy almost Valentines Day!

Sometimes I just think that everyday should be Valentines Day. Why should only one day be dedicated to love and friendship? Shouldn't this be incorporated into every day and everything we do? I love getting flowers, candy and cards...but why only for this special occasion? How about on just Mondays or long weekends or rainy days? There should be a special day everyday, just to show those in our lives how much we love and appreciate them!

So, as a result of the upcoming Valentines Day, I made this card for my ever wonderful, loving, supportive, funny and snuggly husband of mine. Hope he doesn't read this before Monday! I used some leftover Prima Paper the I absolutley love, some brown hemp string, flag stickers from Jenni Bowlin, some cotton Lace and twill from Fabric Land and the "be mine" sentiment is from Pink Paislee. I also sewed around the edge of the card...seems to be the only way I get to use my sewing machine these days - on paper!

And here are some LO's I did over the weekend at a private crop that I organize. Two LO's in about 8 hrs...not bad for me!!! The first one here is of an old car...I took the photo at our Cousin Jesse's wedding in Winnipeg last summer. I just loved how it turned out - one of my favorites for sure! I used the Crate Paper Restoration line - love all the old/vintage looking stuff that came with it. I used some Tattered Angels glimmer mist on the background and the doily - after I embossed it with a Tim Holtz texture folder. I made the flower out of old sewing patterns, topping it off with a Paper Crate fabric brad. The butterfly is from old book pages, die cut from a Stampin Up die...I then sewed down the middle of the three butterflies to make it a bit dimensional. I also used some Rangers Ink alcohol ink to create the Tim Holtz acrylic square at the bottom right side of the flowers and the Heidi Swap clear heart. Love that stuff too!

This is a photo of my favorite nephew and his mother so amazingly rubbing noses! I took this photo again at Cousin Jesse's wedding in Winnipeg Manitoba. He was the ring bearer wearing the cutest Converse shoes, dress shirt and tie. I used the Circa line from Cosmo Cricket and then added some extra stuff in the mix. I created a little envelope to the left of the photo and stuck some cute little pieces inside. I tried using some bubble wrap and black paint as the background dotts....didn't turn out the way I wanted it to. I also painted the flower black...it was a teal blue, but that didn't work so well. Who knew that you could paint the flowers?!! Man have I been missing out!

Creative Scrappers Sketch #118

I hope that everyone had a great weekend! It was so sunny here but so super cold. This made it easy to stay inside and get some long over due basement painting done! Had a bit of time to do some scrapping...but of course I didn't get as much done as I wanted to. I am also currently reading the book THE HOST by Stephanie Meyer. It is super good...have a hard time putting it down to get some "more important" things done. I am really, really trying hard to read more...I usually follow what my good friend Courtney recommends. So far she is 4 for 5 out of the books she has passed along. One being THE BOOK OF NEGROS. Probably the best book I have ever read to date! I cried, screamed and was completely caught up in it - a must read for sure!

Here is a LO that I created last night based on Creative Scrappers Sketch #118. It was such a great sketch I had to use it with this paper and pic. It is of Shea trying to climb someones stairs while trick or treating on Halloween this year. He had so much fun - he even tried to go into peoples houses instead of waiting for the candy! I used a lot of Pink Paislee - love the Hocus Pocus Glitter Alpha Stickers - hope they make more of these because there are a ton in a package so they will last forever! I painted the skull with Tim Holtz Crackle paint, then inked it with Ranger Alcohol Ink, then distressed it with ink...really just layered and played around with different mediums to get the look I wanted. I strung some buttons together using floss along the top and bottom to make a sort of banner. I did use some Maya Mist on the page, but the picture seems a bit washed out so it may be hard to tell here. Hope you enjoy!

Super cute little man

I just had to share these photos with you! My good friends Dawna and Jay gave our little man this air pilots helmet not too long ago. We keep it on his dresser as we don't want him to play with it all the time - or break it. But, the little guy has been getting braver and taller and can take it off his dresser himself. I found him the other day wearing it and trying to walk around with it....however it is so heavy for his little melon that he had a really hard time! He does love it though and enjoys playing with it often. Thanks Dawna and Jay for the great gift!!!

Onto a different topic...there is a cool 52 week challenge over at MCP Actions blog. It is inspiring and challenging to just take photos, of stuff, for yourself, that don't make sense, that do make sense, that you enjoy, for no one else, that you wouldn't normally take. Check it out and play along...should be a great time!

Oh how time flies....

I can't believe that it has been this long since I last blogged!!! Christmas was a blur...had both sides of the family here to celebrate the holiday as well as Shea's Baptism on boxing day. We were truly spoiled with all the love, family, friends and memories that surrounded us throughout the last few weeks. Thank you to everyone from the lovely gifts, food and games!!!

Since we had so many people here, I didn't get a chance to get any scrapping done! My scrap room was a bedroom to the inlaws and then after they left - my parents. Needless to say I didn't get much crafting time at all!

However - here are a few things that I did manage to get done before the whirl wind came through...

This 7 Gypsies tray was created using Graphics 45 Steam Punk line. I used the Lovely Floral Cricut Cartridge for the word "Beautiful", cutting out Tim Holtz grunge board. I just turned the dial deeper on the Cricut blade and it cut through the grunge board like a charm! I used Gumdrop Tattered Angels glimmer mist on the entire project after it was all put together (except for the pictures). The small cork areas are going to be used for notes and such! I loved how it turned out!

Another few layouts...

Finally did some scrapping for myself! I organized a private crop group and our first night was on Saturday. For about 7 hours I only got 2 layouts done! Too much talking and eating (lots of good food!)...was very distracted!

Here is a LO I did of Shea. He looks super glum in the pic, but he really was happy, playing with his stackable blocks. They had just fallen over....the camera caught his facial expression just perfect! I glimmer misted yellow on the blue cardstock, using circle cut outs to leave some blank spots. Then I just grabbed some random stuff from my over flowing and ever lasting stash...I like how it turned out!
For halloween I dressed our little guy up as a bear. Pat, our good friend, gave him this toque as a baby gift when he was born. It is brown fuzzy with little bear ears on top. It is so adorable! Not only did I use it as part of his costume, but it kept his head warm too! He didnt really understand the whole point of trick or treating, but he was on a mission to walk ahead of everyone else we were with! He even tried to go in peoples houses once they opened the door for him and his friends!!! So cute!

I used the Bo Bunny line...thought I would never buy it but it looks so cutsey with this picture!

Cardabilities Sketch #13

Just a quick post today...need to get ready for work while I can! Here is a card I did using the sketch from Cardabilities. It is a great site for card sketches with some great designs and inspiration from their design team. I used the new Teresa Collins Christmas line...cant get enough of this stuff! Which is good because it is the new December kit for the Urban Scrapbook! You wont want to miss buying this kit as there is some great goodies inside!!! So...here is the sketch... And here is my take on it...

2S4Y #64 - Lauras Sketch

Again - an awesome sketch over at 2S4Y. I used the Graphic 45 Steam Punk line. I had some extra stuff from a project I finished today (I will post this one tomorrow!!!) I love the vintage feel of the paper and designs...and since I love cutting things out, their paper is made with wonderful pieces to cut out and embelish your projects with. Here is the sketch:

A few new things...

1) My little guy started signing back to me - milk sign mostly, although he does do the more sign and the water sign sometimes. We started teaching him a while ago and he is catching on - that smart little dude!

2) Started running lots...wanted to run a half marathon in December...not sure if I will make it though as I am a few weeks behind in training and I seem to be taking a while to recover after the Sunday long runs...signs of getting old I guess!

3) Working part time....LOVE IT!!! It is the best of both worlds for sure.

4) Started a private crop group at the Urban Scrapbook! Cant wait to get started with 15 fabulous ladies once a month - should be good times ahead!

5) Started Christmas shopping - yup - thats right - Halloween isn't even here yet, but Christmas shopping is in full swing!

Other than that, I think that is it.

Here is a LO I completed using the amazing Crate Paper Restoration Line!!! It is AMAZING - I bought the entire paper pack and embellies to go with it. It has the perfect shades of color and vintage/grunge looking paper...I feel like I want to save it up because it is so beautiful, however I want to see it and use it too! Oh the trials and tribulations of scrapbooking!!!

Happy Monday!

Here are some LOs that I recently finished. I have been trying to play around in photoshop with some photos...although still trying to get the hang of things. This first LO is of Shea at Easter this year. I used the WRMK Easter line, MM ribbon, Bazzil cardstock and some random buttons and flowers.

This second LO is of Shea at his first birthday party. I used the Teresa Collins birthday line. I love, love, love this paper! I find it hard at times to use such clean lined paper and embellies, but this time it worked out well.

Hope that your Monday is going well. This is a day off from running day for me...knees need a break! Another wonderful sketch over at 2S4Y. Here is the sketch....

and here is my take on it. I absolutly fell in love with the new Teresa Collins birthday line! I usually like grungy things with lots of distressing, ink, etc, however the wonderful colors, clean lines and chipboard pieces really got to me with this line.

Creative Scrappers Sketch #125 Reveal!!!!

So...I was choosen to create a layout based on Sketch #125 over at Creative Scrappers with today being the big reveal!!! They are celebrating their 125th sketch ever! How super exciting is that! Here is my take on the sketch...

I used My Minds Eye Lost and Found paper as well as some Hambly transparancies, Maya Road kraft flowers, Making Memories journaling page and of course a bingo card (my fave!!). The cute little guy in the photo is my everyday inspiration for creating anything crafty. Thank you to Sheri for such great photos of him when he was 4 mths old!

How beautiful....

So I went scrapping at a local store and only got two and half lo's done in about 6 hours!!! How ridiculous is that??!! I find that when I am away from all my "stuff", I am not overly inspired to create. I like to look at all my embellies, stickers and ribbons...and can't forget the feeling of putting my hand in a huge fish bowl of buttons....love it!!! That is how I am inspired to scrap. Well...this is the half finished lo from friday night. I took it home and finished it on sat. I used my cricut to cut out the butterflies, the word beautiful and the base of the big flower. I used the amazing My Minds Eye Lost and Found line for the patterned paper. The white frame is Melissa Frances, Stickles, Color box chalk ink, clear beads and Tattered Angels glimmer mist in Gum Drop (so love this color!!!). And the cutie in the pic is my beautiful and amazing niece who is two point five years old. She lives far away and we miss her daily....too long between visits that is for sure! It has been sooooo long since I have done any scrapping. I have been super busy going back to work, attending a grand wedding in Winnipeg over the last week and trying to get things organized to get our basement finished. So, here are some layouts that I created a while ago, however have not had a change to post any. Hope you enjoy!

And of course...a little photo of my sweet, amazing little boy! Can you see the bruises on his forehead? Can't even tell you how much this kid falls and stumbles all over the place! But he still remains happy and content - loving life and of course all his toys and books!

Sketch #119...and some add ons!

Here is a LO I did using the new MME line of lost and found....it is AMAZING and beauitful and sparkly!!!! Not a great photo, but I and old book page, a Wilton doily (love these!) and a Maya Road mini envelope. I dry embossed the envelope using a Tim Holtz die and my cuttlebug....it turned out super awesome and detailed (although it's hard to tell in this photo). It is at the store right now so I you are close by, stop in the store and check it out and the new paper and embellies...they are flying out fast so act quick!!

I have recently been using lots of sketches and color combos for inspiration for many LO's. I absolutley love Creative Scrappers blog as they provide amazing sketches, examples and ideas. Their design team is extremely talented...check out the blog here and check out a sketch! This is Sketch #119....

And this is my take on it....

Here are few cards I made with the left over papers I used from the above LO. It is the Bo Bunny Mama-Razzi line. This stuff is so awesome to use...I love it!

I cut out the middle of this card using my Martha Stewart circle cutter that I got as a Christmas gift last year. I added some Hambly transparancy from the inside and then adhered these awesome Little Yellow Bicycle words on top. I made the flower using this technique found at the Cosmo Cricket Blog I did, however, add some small scallop circles as the top few layers. I then put some ice crystals around the edges of the flower to give it some sparkle....I love sparkles!

This is a card that I made my wonderful and amazing husband of two years. It was our anniversary on the 30th...made him this as well as his favorite meal - chicken parmasan. I used an XL EK Success boarder punch that I recently bought at Micheals. I had never seen the large boarder punches before....but I love everything about it!

Shea turned 1!!!!

Yup - my little guy turned 1 last week!!!! Great for him - scary for me as now I have to go back to work!!! We had a little party for him last sunday with many friends and family coming out to celebrate with us. I made this baseball cake and basball cupcakes for his party. Super fun to make...and of course eat.

He absolutley loved the chocolate cupcake....

Isn't his little tie and button up shirt adorable? He is so super sweet...we are so luck to have him in our lives...I keep thinking - what did we do before he came along??!!

Thank you all to came to the party, gave gifits and celebrate with us. We are truley fortunate to have you all in our lives!

On another note - I have been doing some scrapping....you will have to wait to find out though!

Holiday!!!

I am frantically packing, cleaning and preparing the vehicle for our long drive to MB. I spent three and half hours cleaning Dustan's filthy truck (he is a carpenter...and had the dogs in it a few weeks back!!), putting seat covers throughout and installing Shea's new car seat. Wow - what an ordeal!!! Now it is just getting the little things done - making sure we have everything, packing so nothing flies out while we drive...getting it washed on the outside (again - a work truck that is DIRTY!!). It seams I just don't have enough time in the day!

On our vacation to MB, I am attending a Hodgson reunion in Foxwarren. There is going to be a silent auction on the Sunday and so I whipped up some of these little pouches/change purses to donate. I used Maya Mist on both with a mask, then sewed some ribbon, a flower made from lace and some buttons from my ever lasting stash. They turned out pretty good I think. I lined them with some coordinating flannel so that the inside was nice as well. They are super easy and quick to whip up. They are a small donation but I am sure some little girl or teenie may want one for all their summer savings!

I won't be posting anything while I am away....so please don't forget about me! I will be back in a few weeks and will post some new stuff that I am working on while I am gone - you never know if it is going to rain at the lake - I may find some time to get some scrapping in!!! The Color Room #14...and then some!

It has been a bit of rush here lately...trying to get some yard work done while my little guy sleeps (and in between all of the rain!!!)...trying to work out as I am going back to work in a month (yuck!!)...and trying to get some scraping in! We are also trying to pack and get the house organized as we are leaving for MB this weekend. It will be the first time that we will have driven that long with Shea in the vehicle....hopefully sleeping a lot!

The new palette for The Color Room is out and it is super awesome! I love the boyish colors this time...the table cloth reminded me of some Cosmo Cricket or October Afternoon patterns. Since these are my favorite companies...I had to scrap it!

The pictures are of my little guy with a plastic squeeky hockey stick that used to by my husbands. Grandma Rogers saved it for my husband in case he a little guy of his own! My little Mister absolutly loves it and plays with it all the time...apparently it was his fathers favorite toy too!!

I also did this LO while the rain wouldn't quit. Again...my little guy that I simply adore. He brings so much joy and happiness in our lives...it makes me think "what did we do before we were so blessed with him?". Well - I love our lives better this way!

I have been blogging quite a bit lately...jumping from designers blogs to friends blogs to scrapbooking blogs...and I love it! I especially love some of the LO and card challange blogs. I loved the sketch from PageMaps and thought that I would try it out. For this challenge they not only provided a sketch, but a color palette to go along with it. Check out the sketch and colors on their blog! Here is my take on it...

I used some old American craft pp, Making Memories ribbon that I sewed, Echo Park journaling card, Maya Road tickets, Tim Holts stick pin, Making Memories acrylic tag and American Craft Thickers that I changed the color with Ranger Alcohol Ink. I found it hard to use this paper as it really didn't inspire me like it did when I first bought it. It actually feels good to use up some of the old stash of papers...slowly but surley I guess!!

I truley love The Color Room! They have such inspiring colors, sketches and examples by their very talented design team. If ever you are stuck for ideas, check it out here - it just gets the creative juices flowing! Here is my take on palette #13. I used some older SEI valentines paper, a dollarstore doilie that I misted with Bubblegum Maya Mist, Basic Grey letters, and Making Memories ribbon and stick pin. I know that the pink is very "girly"...but I loved this photo of my little guy and I and thought that it could work! Hope you are having a great week!

Some new LO's

I had the opportunity to actually get some scrapping in! WOW - it feels great to start creating with some of the new product that has come out! Here is a LO I did of my little guy using the new Basic Grey Oliver line. It was so cute and easy to use. I love all the little x's and o's and the ribbon tape...and of course the journaling tags....love it all!

Fathers Day Gift

It was my husbands first fathers day this year and I was so excited to make something for him from our little guy. I knew that we would be gone to Manitoba to visit family during this time so I had to make it way ahead of time and take it with us. I used my Cricut and the Mothers Day cartridge to cut out the mini album cover and pages. If you look closely, you can see that each page is a large ticket stub with a perforated along with inside binding. The book is so easy to put together....so many possibilities for this! I used Little Yellow Bicycle paper that I had sitting in my forever stash of paper. It was masculine and thought that if fit the bill. I decided to do a ton of layering with multiple different elements from every paper and product line. It was fun to mix and match colors that I normally wouldn't and to not stick to just one company line for all the paper and embellies. Dustan absolutely loved it...he looks at if every night before bed!

Beautiful Sunday

This weekend has finally brought out the sunshine that has, for so long, been hidden by all the rain and gloomy clouds! I was able to get outside and clean out the garage, mow the lawn and play around in my flower bed!!! When it was raining, I did get a chance to do some scrapping for the July LO kits for the Urban Scrapbook. We used a brand new line called Echo Park...it is super adorable and very fun to play with. I love all the little flowers, pin wheels and banner flags! You will be able to see what everyone has created soon...July 1 they will be posted on line as well as at the store. Here is my LO:

I made this card for my very bestest and good friend Courtney. She is taking a very big step in her life this weekend and I know that she is a little cautious about it. She is doing it because she loves her fiance and knows that it, although maybe difficult right now, will make things beautiful and wonderful in their long life that they will be enjoying together. She is a believer, a trooper and a dedicated person... I wish her good luck this weekend and am sad that I couldn't be there with her or be a part of this wonderful experience! It will be amazing!

New Purchase!

Yup! That's right...I purchased a new camera! Finally, after all the digging, researching and pondering, I broke down and bought the Nikon D5000 with a 35mm 1.8 lens. So far, it is quite nice, however I have no idea what I am doing! If anyone has any suggestions about lenses, shooting, composition, etc. please fill me in! I have been checking out some blogs and websites to learn more about all the gadgets, however I know I'm the type of person that needs to read things 50 million times before I totally get it!

It was my friend's birthday last week and so a few of us decided to get together for lunch today and celebrate. I made this card for her on behalf of all of us. I made the flower after I watched this video sent to me by my friend Heather. It was very easy and super cute with patterned paper. Instead of using water to make it wet, I used Irredescent Gold Glimmer Mist. It just adds that extra little shimmer that makes it all so sweet. It was so darn cute that I made a bigger one using a large and small scalloped circle punches. The paper is cosmo cricket and some old book pages from an old Little Women book I bought at Value Village a while ago. Again, I sprayed it with the Glimmer Mist instead of water. Take a look at the video and try one out yourself! You will sure to love it!

It is starting to get nicer out as it had rained all weekend...again! I hope to get out and take some pictures of my little guy and the dogs. I will post some soon! TFL and have a good week!

It has been a while...

Well it rained, rained and rained all May long weekend here. It was cold and gloomy the entire time...so no yard work got completed around here! When my mom was here - about a week ago - we planted the veggie garden, prennial garden and all my pots...so they got lots of water and moisture...now onto the sun please!

I have convinced my husband that we need a new camera. I have been doing some reading and think that I may purchase the Rebel XSI with a 50mm 1.8 lens. I went to Don's photo here in Edmonton and they were AMAZING!!! I got to play around with it while I was at the store and it took great photos...for a beginner anyways! Do you have any suggestions on types, brand names, lens, etc? I need all the information I can get before making my purchase. It seems a lot of people have the Rebel...I was reading the Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine yesterday and the three scrappers they featured all use the Canon Rebel! Sounds good to me!

Speaking of CSM - has anyone checked it out lately? Jan, Sheri and I all have LO's in it and the store, Urban Scrapbook, was featured on a two page article! Make sure to check it out!!!

A few pics for you before you go...I finished this Pink Paislee canvas album the other day. It is a place where you can keep all your important info such as e-mail addresses, phone numbers, important dates, passwords, etc. I used lots of glimmer mist, diamond glaze, alcohol ink and made all the flowers! It is going to be a class at the Urban Scrapbook soon - just waiting on product to come in - be sure to check the website for the posting on the class and dates!

Crochet Flowers

I adore all the crochet flowers that are out and about in scrapbooking stores and on peoples altered items and cards....so much that I thought I would try making some myself!

I dug through all of my crafting stuff and found a big box of yarn, needles, patterns and crochet hooks! My aunt Noreen has sent them to me as they were my grandmothers, who was a very talented artist in all ways. As I was one of the only grandchildren that ever learned how to crochet and knit, I got them! Some are super vintage and beautiful! My Grandma Ina taught me how to knit when I was about 10 years old. From there I started making mittens for all my friends...oh she had such great patience with me!

From there I learned how to crochet and made a huge affgan for my boyfriend at the time (now husband)!!! A red and white one - to match his favorite team the Detroit Red Wings of course. But now I have a better use for my semi talent of crocheting...FLOWERS! There are some great tutorials out there and if you are interested, check out this one here. Roxanne, a very talented scrapbooker and good friend sent this to me yesterday...and the flowers are amazing! Good luck everyone! I will show you some of my creations soon!

I am in love!!!

That's right...I am in love...with Norwex stuff! I can't believe how awesome my floors look after using their mop system! Call me a nerd, a clean freak...whatever you like - I am in love! Now that my little guy is cruisin' all over the floor, I am constantly cleaning it and nothing has gotten the floors cleaner than the Norwex dry and wet mop! It is a beautiful thing!

So it has finally rained here and things are looking a bit fresher as a result. My mom is coming to visit in about two weeks and boy do I have some things planned for her! We are going to put in the garden...clean out my flower beds...sweep the grass (lots and lots of leaves)...put up our address number... paint the front doors red and hit up a few yard sales. She has a busy week ahead of her little does she know!!!

I did, however, get some scrapping done in the last few days. I had to buy the new baby line from Making Memories and do something for my little guy. I am in love with all the banners going around so I thought that I would try something with his photos. It is such cute paper and the felt stars are super adorable!

This next one is using the new Pink Paislee 365 degrees collection. The colors are so beautiful and refreshing! I love their artisan tape...it goes with everything...and you can do soooooo much with it! I punched a bunch of circles and scalloped circles and glued them on and then sewed right over top. I misted the cardstock with Maya Road Cherry Red mist...if you haven't tried this stuff it is AMAZING! I use it on almost every LO now. This is a picture of my baby boy in his first sled ride ever...it wasn't super cold out but his little cheeks got so rosy and cute.

This last LO is for the May challange at the Urban Scrapbook. We used the Queen Bee line by Pink Paislee. It was very different to work with as I don't think that I would have bought it on it's own....but I loved it once I started working with it! Who am I kidding...I love all Pink Paislee stuff! I used the new Sizzex Tim Holtz dies on the big flower, cutting some yellow fabric that I found laying around. I glimmer misted them with Black gold, scrunch up the flowers and let them dry. A while ago, The Urban Scrapbook had a few little baggies full of great embelishment pieces that they had put together...I bought one that had a whole bunch of old watch faces, watch hands, gears, teeny tiny puzzle pieces and a few other little trinkets...great for adding a bit of vintage to one's LOs. We had to use the word "because" in our title...this if of my mom and her two grandchildren, my Shea and my sister's Calleigh. She is a proud "Gamma" - which is what Calleigh calls her - and we all love her "because of the wonderful things she does"...and this is one of my favorite lines from my favorite movie - The Wizard of Oz!

The wind has finally died down out here - man it was CRAZY! So crazy we lost all the lids to our garbage cans outside and some of our solar lights along the driveway blew off!

I finally was able to sit down and do some scrapping. It has been way to long! I only got one LO finished - that is it! One LO! I love to scrap but man am I slow at it!!! I really need to start making some thank you cards to some well deserved people out there - sorry it has taken me so long!

I was also able to start cleaning out my scrap room and purge, purge, purge! I have about three - four boxes that are filled with scrapbooking stuff - stamps, brads, embllies, flowers, tools, markers, paper, etc! I am planning on having a yard sale in the next month so hopefully I can get rid of it all! This stuff is only the beginning! I still have boxes upon boxes in the basement full of scrapping stuff, storage containers and magazines that I haven't opened since we moved to our house in May of 2008!!! Two years and I still haven't opened them! I guess I really don't miss or need whatever is down there!!!

So here is the LO that I recently made. It is of my family when Shea was only about three months old. I used the technique of die cutting out cardboard, ripping off the top layer and then misting it with Maya Road red cherry mist - thanks Roxanne for the tip and ideas!

And here are some pics of my little guy having a hay day with blueberries! It is a good thing that I took his shirt off because he had the juices and berries EVERYWHERE!

Yummy cookies....

Well the weather has been pretty terrible here in the Edmonton area. For the last few days the wind has gotten up to over 90 kms per hour - ridiculous!!! We lost a few lids for the garbage cans and some of the older trees in our yard have blown down...great way to get firewood for the summer I guess!!

Since we haven't been brave enough to face the crazy wind, we decided to stay inside the last few days. With that comes a bit of baking, cleaning and of course, scrapping! I just finished making these great cookies which I call homemade oreo cookies...they are soooooo chewy and yummy it is very hard to only have just one...or two...or three!!! While sandwiching them together, I came across one, burried in the pile, that looked like this:

Somehow, a mysterious chunk, similar to what would look like a "bite mark" was missing from one of the cookies - little did my husband know that there were still crumbs on his face!!! Here is the delicious recipie for you to try:

2 pkgs of Devil's food cake mix

1 cup of vegetable oil

4 eggs

Mix all of this together; roll into small balls of equal sizes and place on a cookie sheet; bake for 10 -12 minutes at 350 degrees.

Icing:

1/2 cup margarine or butter

1 pkg of cream cheese (8 0z)

2 tsp. vanilla

3-4 cups of icing sugar

Mix together; when cookies are cool, place a dollop in the middle of two cookies and make a sandwich....there you go! Homemade yummy oreo cookies! Enjoy!

As for scrapping...I am still working on that! Did you get a chance to take a look at Tim Holtz' blog??? It is amazing! He has put up some tutorials/videos about his new diecuts and embossing folders! Everything looks so amazing - I can't wait to use the embossing folders! And everything can be used with your Cuttlebug! Urban Scrapbook already has in the diecuts but they are moving fast so if you want some of your own, hurry in! Check out Tim's blog here - you will surely be impressed!

Beautiful Good Friday!

Today is shaping up to be a beautiful and sunny day! My little guy has been sleeping for a while which gave me the opportunity to check my e-mails, visit over due blogs, SHOWER (for a long time!!!), drink my coffee and do a little scrapping!

As we built a new house two years ago, the landscaping is yet to be finished. So...last year we seeded grass in the fall...I hope that it works and the grass starts growing soon! The dogs come in from their run with mud stuck in between their toes - it takes me forever to clean off their feet - and the mess it creates makes me very annoyed and anxious (I am a clean freak )!!!

Can't wait to start planning out our veggie garden! We are not sure where we are going to put it though as we have a lot of trees on our lot. The fresh air and the beaming sun makes me want to be outside all day and get started! I also want to start some pots with fresh herbs in them and grow them on the deck. I think that I would use them lots in my cooking and having them close on the deck would be fabulous. Does anyone have any ideas about how to start herbs, types of pots, soil info, etc? I have never grown herbs before and will need a little guidance I am sure.

And...another thing we want to do is start a compost pile. I have heard that it is super easy, but takes a few years before you can actually start using the soil it produces. Again, does anyone have any info on where to get the best containers or how to have the waste in your house without making your kitchen smell (before taking it outside daily)? Man...lots of spring and summer projects...how am I going to juggle it all??!!!

Also, I am creating a new class for The Urban Scrapbook. It is a summer/vacation/travel mini album that is created using envelopes! It is super cute and has lots of slots for journaling, pictures and tags! I am using the Imaginisce Scooter's Vacation line...it is very cute. Although there is a dog in most of the paper, one does not have to have pets to use it! Here is a sneak peak...should be finished within the week!

It has been way too long!!!

It has been way too long since I posted...sorry!

We were in the Dominican for a family trip with all of Dustan's side. We had a ton of fun and it was great to be with everyone since we don't see them all that often. The food was not great, but the sun was shining, the ocean was amazing and the pool was cool! And the tiki tiki's (not sure if you spell it this way)...were super tasty...need to figure out what actually goes in these drinks so that I can make them at home!

When I got home, I got some great and fabulous news...my good friend Jan has tested negative for any further cancer!!! Yeah Jan! I am super, super happy for you and can't wait to see you and have a good visit! Speaking of visits...I heard that you had a surprise! Hope you enjoyed having the visit with your daughter!!

April is coming soon and our new monthly kits will be out soon at the Urban Scrapbook. The kits are made up of all Prima product...it is awesome! There paper is so versitile...you can do anything with it! Here is my take on April's kit...and be sure to check out Urban Scrapbook's blog...Pat, Sheri and Heather do a great job...there is tons of insipration on it!

I made some flowers out of mutiple stacked scalloped circles and then glimmer misted with a teal color. This make the flower wet and allows you to manipulate it to create texture and dimension. I added beads to the edges of my butterflies and then crackle accents to the middle. The cracks show up really well when I went over the cracks with my chalk ink. The red rub ons that I used were Heidi Grace...super old ones...and the black letters are Pink Paisley! I love these letters so much that I went out and bought more after I used them on this LO!

Can't wait to see what the other designers for Urban Scrapbook have done with their kits!

Today I had to take my little guy in to get his 6 month shots...I hate these types of days. He did pretty decent though considering he already wasn't feeling well with a cough, cold and snotty nose. He is a trooper that is for sure!

I attended a fundraising crop on Saturday in Spruce Grove put on by Scrapbooking Fanatics. It was to raise funds for Haiti. All the proceeds were donated to the Red Cross. My goal was to complete three LO in 11 hours...which I thought would be pretty hard for me as I am a slow scrapper...but I did it! Here are two of the LO's that I completed.

For the red flower above, I took about an 18 inch lenght of 2 inch ribbon and folded it in half width wise. I then just started rolling it together using glue dots every few cm. It is super cute and turned out great. I used glue dots on the bottom to secure the ends and attach it to the paper. A glue gun would work great too. Try this with a wide ribbon of your favorite color and see what happends!

On another note...have you registered for the breast cancer crop that Urban Scrapbook is having on April 30th, May 1st and May 2nd? There were only a few spots left when I was in the store today so you better call and sign up quick! There is going to be some great prizes and giveaways as well as some raffels for some amazing products! The food is going to be outstanding...I think that Lori may be cooking for at least one of the evenings...she is an amazing cook - you are going to love it!

Baby Boy mini album sneak peak....!

I made this baby boy mini album using the Teresa Collins Baby Boy Chic line. I will be teaching a class at The Urban Scrapbook soon. Keep an eye on their website for more details and final dates! The good thing is...it also comes in PINK - so you can choose to complete the class using blue or pink product!

I completed it without photos as an example that it would be great as a gift for someone that is expecting!

Each page will consist of photos from each month along with a mini calander of each month to write the date, weight and length of the child! It is super cute...you won't want to miss this class!!!

This one is of my little guy. I used a whack of stuff that I had stored and didn't know what to do with it. I piled it on and wham - this is what it turned out to be! I used Tattered Angels glimmer mist, Tim Holtz grunge board for the wings, 7 Gypsies film strip ribbon, SEI tickets, some black lace I found at my local fabric store, Heidi Swapp transparency and the pp is October Afternoon.

This one is of my dog Bauer...he really is super cute but he is very mischievious! He will do something but you don't find out later! He is my little devil in disquise! I used DCWV pp, American Craft Thickers, grunge board and Distress Crackle paint in Broken China and a Martha Stewart punch for the boarder along the bottom.
